Federal conservatives will be heading the polls today.

Two nomination meetings are being held in the riding of Chatham-Kent-Leamington to replace retiring MP Dave Van Kesteren. The first takes place in Tilbury tonight, with another in Chatham tomorrow.

Nominees will give speeches at 6:30 tonight at the Knights of Columbus Hall, with voting taking place from 7 until 9:30.

Tomorrow morning’s event at Club Lentina’s beings with nominee speeches at 10, followed by voting from 10:30 until 2pm.

There are four candidates in the running for the nomination: Toyin Crandell, Dave Epp, Mike Grail, and Dave VanDamme.

The winner of the ranked ballot will carry the Conservative flag in next fall’s federal election.

Although an exact date hasn’t been chosen at this point, the party will hold a similar vote for those seeking the nomination in Lambton-Kent-Middlesex in the new year.
