Cabinet Swap for London-Area MPP

A London-area MPP is Ontario’s new Minister of Transportation.

Elgin-Middlesex-London MPP Jeff Yurek

Elgin-Middlesex-London representative Jeff Yurek was named to the post this morning as part of a cabinet shuffle in the wake of the sudden resignation of Economic Development Minister Jim Wilson, who stepped down to deal with addiction issues.

Yurek essentially trades places with John Yakabuski, who moves from Transportation to Yurek’s old post at the Ministry of Natural Resource and Forestry.

Todd Smith, MPP for Bay of Quinte, who has been serving as Minister of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade on an interim basis, will assume full-time responsibility for this portfolio in addition to his ongoing responsibilities as Government House Leader.

Sylvia Jones, MPP for Dufferin-Caledon, is appointed Minister of Community Safety and Correctional Services.

Michael Tibollo, MPP for Vaughan-Woodbridge, is appointed Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport.

Bill Walker, MPP for Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound, is appointed to cabinet as the Minister of Government and Consumer Services.
