WDSS is honouring its champion basketball team.
The Sr. Girls Basketball team won the OFSAA Title last week with a nail-biting 53-52 win over the Dundas Valley Gryphons.
To honour them, a pep rally was held at the school today.
Coach Jeanine Day says the win is historic, bringing home a championship for the first time in more than 20 years.
“(First since) ’95, and it was a girls volleyball team so the first basketball team is pretty special for them,” says Day. “They spend hours in the gym working on their shots, so it means a lot to them.”
Day says the team has created a buzz around the school, and it’s a school win.
