Desperate Plea From Salvation Army As Donations Fall

A desperate plea from the Salvation Army in Chatham-Kent this Christmas.

Their donations are way down this year.

The Kettle campaign is $80,000 dollars short and the mail-out campaign is $166,000 dollars short.

Captain Steve Holland was asked why he believes donations are down.

“ I think a lot of it could be that people are not carrying cash on them, with debit out there people don’t have much in their pockets. Then the mail strike that was on for a little bit could have held off people. A lot of people looking for the same dollar, many organizations, so there’s a lot of need out there and I suspect it effects everybody.”

He says they need to rally and raise the funds to help with projects around the municipality for now, and throughout the year.
