Hosting the Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling in Chatham-Kent came in way under budget.
Last year, the Municipality made a $160,000 guarantee to host the event along with $50,000 in event support.
However, through ticket sales and sponsorships, only $47,000 of that was actually spent.
Municipal officials say the event was close to capacity throughout the five day event, and SportsNet has expressed an interest in hosting another event here either during the 2019-2020 season or in 2020-2021.
