Stepping Up Safety

Chatham-Kent Police are encouraging local residents to take an active role in community safety.

Constable Randy Hall says neighbourhood watch programs and other initiatives are great ways to reduce and report criminal activity.

“When we’re talking about costs we need to understand that vandalism costs all of us. Not just for the repair costs of the damage that’s been done, but the costs that have initially install what’s there and in that case public access, there’s a lot of events that happen at that park, tax dollars being adjusted, and we’re all concerned with where our money is being spent.” says Hall.”The revitalization is trying to happen, we’ve stepped it up with community leads, not door knocking but a social media aspect called  Neighbourhood.ca you set up your own account and we’re trying to keep it as Wallaceburg as a whole and sharing information there.”

However, Hall says sharing information with your neighbours and on social media won’t have the same impact without also reporting it directly to police.
