With as much as 15 cm of snow falling today, the local fire service wants you to be safe, as well as warm.
Chatham-Kent Fire Service Public Educator Whitney Burk says there are a couple things people can do.
The #1 is the importance of digging out hydrants and making sure your house number is visible for first responders,” says Burk. “Portable heaters need space, we need to keep them away from anything that can burn. And they need to be plugged directly into an outlet never use an extension cord and the best ones have an automatic shut off so if they come in contact with something they will automatically shut off.”
After a mild Monday, temps are expected to plummet into double digits throughout the week.
