Lianne Rood is gearing up for her next fight – battling the governing Liberals.

After winning the Conservative party nomination for Lambton-Kent-Middlesex over the weekend, the Grand Bend woman has her sights set on October.

“We have such an incredible riding, it’s so diverse, and it’s a large riding – there’s lots of ground to cover. I plan to continue to get out there, knock on doors, and meet as many people as possible in the upcoming months leading up to the election. We’ve got a lot of work to do to prepare to defeat Trudeau and the Liberals coming up, so I plan to get out as much as I can,” says Rood.

Rood says reducing tax rates and red tape for small business, supporting the agriculture industry, and access to broadband are some of the biggest issues in the area.

“One of the issues that comes up over and over and over again is with our small businesses being taxed to death, and dealing with something as simple as high speed internet access in the rural areas of this riding. I’ve been talking to farmers as well, and they feel sort of left out especially in trade agreements, and so it’s time to stand up for our farmers and agri-businesses as well,” Rood says.
