A Chatham-Kent man is banned from owning or caring for an animal for the next five years.
41-year-old Richard Magnan has been convicted of permitting and animal to be in distress following an incident last spring.
Officers responded to an animal cruelty complaint in May, 2018, and found a one-year-old medium sized dog with an injured leg.
The dog had to undergo surgery to repair what investigators describe as “forceful direct trauma to the pelvis and leg.”
“Owning an animal comes with the legal responsibility of caring for them when in need not only when convenient,” Agent Ryan Sparks says. “Permitting an animal to suffer and be in distress is absolutely not acceptable.”
Along with the ban on owning an animal, Magnan is also facing a $1000 fine.
