Honouring Mothers at the CTC

The need for a new, expanded Children’s Treatment Centre is being highlighted with a new Mother’s Day Appeal as part of the Centre’s Butterfly Building Campaign.

Jackie Lundy has been using the Treatment Centre with her daughter for the past eight years and says the staff have become family.

“We have been family with the Centre, they just kind of adopt you and bring you into their world, a word that I had no idea existed,” Lundy says. “We have developed phenomenal friendships at hte CTC, we have made great friends with other parents that are trying to reach the same goals or same potential in their child.”

Tracy Bultje and her son Edward have been using the services at the centre for 22 years.

“Let me tell you, I thought I was an expert after raising four other children, I thought I knew it all and I thought I was a fantastic mom and knew all the tricks in the book” Bultje says. “But when you have a child with special needs, that book is no longer helpful and you have to learn a whole new set of skills.”

The Treatment Centre provides specialized therapy to over 4000 kids in the community, with close to 1600 more on a waiting list.

Donations will be accepted through the Mother’s Day appeal for the next two weeks, with all proceeds helping to support building a new, expanded facility.

Donations can be made online at ctc-ck.com.
