Chatham-Kent Police are warning dog owners to keep their pets on a leash.

Authorities say they’ve received numerous complaints about dogs running loose around the O’Neill Nature Preserve, formerly known as Paxton’s Bush.

Owners can face a $240 fine under the Responsible Animal Ownership bylaw for not leashing their dog in a public area or neglecting to clean up after their pet.

There are two off-leash parks in Chatham-Kent were dogs can fun free, the John Waddell Park on Water Street in Chatham, and the Happy Tails Dog Park on Baldoon Road in Wallaceburg.
