Local residents are doing what they can to help families in need – it’s McHappy Day at McDonalds, supporting Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southwestern Ontario.
Tilbury’s Coriann Richardson and her family were rushed to hospital in London when her daughter suffered a stroke.
“We found ourselves suddenly transported up to London literally with just the clothes on our back because I left the house in such a crazy fashion with a very sudden and unexpected seizure end of January 2018. We found ourselves in quite a crisis situation, we ended up spending seven weeks there and we never came home in that time,” says Richardson. “You don’t have a tooth brush or deodorant All these small little comfort items that you take for granted are all supplied by Ronald McDonald House. I don’t think people realize that 75% of their budget is raised through fundraising so the McHappy day is so important because it’s such a support for people who don’t expect to end up in that kind of situation.”
One dollar from every Big Mac, Happy Meal, and McCafe beverage sold today goes to support the Ronald McDonald Houses in Windsor and London, and the RM Family Room in London.
