The Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority says the strong winds experienced yesterday have died off somewhat, with waves and water levels starting to subside.

Officials say total rainfall could hit 25mm in some areas when all is said and done, and winds out of the northwest for most of today and tomorrow should provide some relief from flooding.

However, with the ground still quite saturated, there could still be some ponding in low-lying areas and keep water levels in ditches, creeks, and streams quite high throughout the day today.

At this point, the LTVCA doesn’t expect it will have to operate the McGregor Creek Diversion Channel, but staff will be keeping an eye on it.
