Drug Busts An Almost Daily Occurrence

The pace of drug confiscations by Chatham-Kent police ran at more than one a day on average in 2018.

That info was revealed in an annual report presented to the board this week.

All told 439 illicit drug seizures took place, along with another 66 incidents involving prescriptions.

Cocaine, Oxycodone and Fentanyl combined were picked up just 16% of the time while the far more popular meth and marijuana made up almost two thirds of the total seizures.

Live marijuana plants are destroyed at the local landfill, the rest is trucked to Brampton for disposal at a facility there.
