Monte McNaughton has been given a new job thanks to yesterday’s cabinet shuffle at Queen’s Park.

The Lambton-Kent-Middlesex MPP has been named Ontario’s Minister of Labour, trading placed with Laurie Scott who takes over at the Ministry of Infrastructure.

“It’ll be a challenging portfolio, but I just can’t say enough about the year I’ve experienced as Minister of Infrastructure,” McNaughton says.

McNaughton says one of his primary focuses as Labour Minister will be to bring back more manufacturing jobs to southwestern Ontario.

“We have to have the right balance between employers and workers and their rights when it comes to labour laws in the province.”

He’ll be spending the summer meeting with labour groups, workers, and employers across the province.

Among some of the other high profile changes yesterday include the demotion of Finance Minister Vic Fedeli, who is now in charge of economic development. Former Environment Minister Rod Phillips will replace him at Finance.

Lisa MacLeod moves from Children, Community, and Social Services to Tourism, Culture, and Sport.

And Lisa Thompson has been moved from Education to Government and Consumer Services.
