The Children’s Treatment Centre of Chatham-Kent is trying to muster a public show of support.

Officials are still waiting to find out whether any provincial funding is coming to help build a new facility.

Executive Director Donna Litwin-Makey says the community fundraising campaign has been very successful, but without money from upper levels of government, the project can’t go ahead.

“We’re competing for funding across the province because our own funding Ministry doesn’t have a line that specifically addresses builds of Children’s Treatment Centres,” Litwin-Makey explains. “Children’s Treatment Centres continue to be funded across the province, they just are funding after a fair amount of long-term advocacy and a bit more of a one-off approach under unique circumstances in each case.”

They’re asking for letters of support from parents, clients, and other community members to show the province the importance of the centre.
