An exercise near the ER in Chatham later this morning will help staff be better prepared in the event of a large-scale emergency.
It’s part of the hospital’s ongoing training for staff, volunteers, and first responders should there ever be a disaster – in this case, a simulation of what would happen in the event of a large-scale exposure chemical, bio-hazard, radioactive or nuclear materials in the community.
Today’s mock disaster focuses on the ER’s decontamination system in the ambulance bay outside the Chatham ER.
Officials say all hospital entrances and departments will remain open and continue to operate as usual.
