Potential expansion of public transit, primarily in Chatham, is one of the issues on the agenda at tonight’s municipal council meeting. 
An on-demand pilot program is being suggested in Chatham, running from January, 2020 until June 30th, 2021 with a request for the purchase of two new buses.
Ward Five Councillor Aaron Hall says while he’s intrigued by the idea, it raises some questions.
“What are we doing as a municipality to promote this,” Hall asks. “What are we doing to try to encourage people to use public transit. Talk about other issues like climate change and trying to be environmentally sound, if we can get more people using public transit, that gets more cars off the road.”
Hall says he’d like to get more public input, and is encouraging all residents, especially those in Wallaceburg, to visit the municipality’s Let’s Talk portal to read more about the CK Transit Survey.
If approved, the on-demand pilot program would be funded in part by the Transit Reserve and the rest covered by the Provincial Gas Tax Reserve.
