LKDSB Students Can’t Make The Grade

The public school board has released its EQAO results from last spring’s standardized tests, and the kids and the board have some work to do.

Officials with the Lambton-Kent District School Board say that while the 2018-19 results are on par with the year before, students continue to fall behind the provincial average in reading, writing and math skills.

For example, grade 3 students earned a 69% in reading, 63% in writing, and 52% in math, compared to provincial scores of 74, 69, and 58 respectively.

Grade six students struggled the most in math, scoring 35%, compared to 48 provincially.

Officials say they will use the results to help raise the bar and meet the needs of its students.
