Chatham-Kent CAO Don Shropshire says the community has gone from struggling to sell homes to a red-hot real estate market with an additional 5000 people now living in Chatham-Kent over the last two years.
“We’ve actually gotten to a point now where we’re trying to attract or we are attracting literally thousands more people,” Shropshire says. “What we’re seeing now is a huge demand for housing stock, all different varieties, a type of investment like this in Dresden is exactly what the community needs.”
Shropshire says housing developments in Blenheim, Tilbury, and Chatham show that as the economy rebounds, more people are seeing the benefit of living in CK.
Depencier Builders held a ribbon ceremony yesterday to mark the opening of a new subdivision with as many as 20 units being built on Dresden’s northeast end.
Developer Dave Depencier says, “In the next ten years, Ontario is going to need one million new homes,” says developer Dave Depencier. “We have to make them affordable and we have to make them accessible. We are very proud to open our doors and invite new people here.”
