Today is National Pickle Day, an industry that’s become close to the hearts of many in Wallaceburg.
Claude Briere is the VP of sales and marketing for Whyte’s Foods, and says the local processing plant is now up to 50 employees.
“We started production a few months ago, about two months later than expected, but now we’re very happy both lines of production food service and retail, so glass jar and pail, are up and running, we’re very happy about that.”
Briere says they’ve used as many locally produced cucumbers as they could, given the late growing season in Chatham-Kent.
