As organizers prepare for this weekend’s 39th annual Wallaceburg’s Sports Hall of Fame induction ceremony, plans are already in the works for future years.
Chair Chris Baertsoen says they’re always looking
for nominees.
“Obviously you can’t have a winning team every year, because there are several to select from, so they’ll be in that pile for several year going,” says Baertsoen. “People can get that information to us the more information they can dig up and submit the more we can make a decision based on that information and those facts. It’s usually somebody that is or was a Wallaceburg native, we’ve had winners in the past, specifically the Red Devils that weren’t from town but played here. They can be considered as well.”
Among this year’s inductees: Kevin Stirling, Jodie Christian, Brenda Schultz, Karl Toulouse, Don Verhaeghe, and Brian Armitage, and the 1978 Port Lambton senior men’s baseball team.
Saturday’s ceremony at the UAW Hall features former Humboldt Broncos player Kaleb Dahlgren as the night’s guest speaker.
