Joe Neufeld sprung into action on the afternoon of December 29th when he witnessed a car roll over into a ditch on Wheatley Road at Hornick Line.

He called 911 and leapt into the water-filled ditch, breaking a window to reach the driver and relay info to 911 dispatch.

When firefighter Jozlyn Lantin arrived, she secured the driver’s head and kept him from drowning.

Emergency crews were able to free the man and take him to hospital.

Both Ms. Lantin and Mr. Neufeld received Commendations from Chatham-Kent Police Chief Conn this week.
