Plans are moving ahead to conduct a full review of Ontario’s student transportation funding formula.
The province says the review, which was first announced back in March, 2019, comes at the request of student transportation partners to better meet the changing needs of school boards and students.
The ministry is establishing a Student Transportation Advisory Group that will meet with the Parliamentary Assistant and ministry staff over the coming months to share their thoughts.
According to government figures, funding for student transportation in the 2019-20 school year is projected to be more than $1 billion province-wide.
According to CLASS student transportation services, more than 17,000 students take the bus to school in Chatham-Kent and Sarnia Lambton with nearly 300 buses on the road.
