The Lambton Kent District School Board is sending a second letter in support of local, public education to the Minister of Education.

At this week’s meeting Chair Jane Bryce says it’s a refresh of their first letter was sent almost a year ago.

“We talked about the importance of funding for public education, we specifically referenced the challenges for our rural schools and schools with small populations due to financial constraints and declining enrollment,” Bryce says.

There was some frustration from trustees that the original letter sent last May never garnered a response from the Minister, but Bryce admits one wasn’t requested, an oversight rectified in this newer version.

“We have a vision statement about our students shaping our world, we also have a mission statement saying we’re fostering success for every student every day,” Bryce says. “Those two statements drive everything that we do and we’re going to continue to support and advocate for students in the Lambton Kent District School Board.”
