A popular fundraiser for the Children’s Treatment Centre of Chatham-Kent is being revived.
Over the Edge returns to the Holiday Inn Express in Chatham on June 20th.
The inaugural event was held in 2018 as participants rappelled down the 10-storey building.
However, the fundraiser was put on hold last year as the CTC-CK took part in the RM 40th anniversary celebrations.
Foundation President Mike Genge says he’s excited to bring the event back for a second year, and this time around will be teaming up with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Chatham-Kent.
They’ve got kids, we’ve got kids, the synergy works really well,” Genge says. “They’ll bring 50 (participants,) we’ll bring 50, and we’re splitting the proceeds right down the middle.”
The event brought in almost $90,000 in 2018 with 55 participants. The goal this time around is $200,000, with each participant raising a minimum of $1000.
“The money’s going to go towards helping our mentoring programs which helps spark potential in children at risk throughout Chatham-Kent,” says Amanda Clark from Big Brother’s Big Sisters.
The event will also include a carnival-type atmosphere with live entertainment and other family-friendly activities.
Each participant will also be entered into a draw for a brand new Mazda 3, courtesy of the Lally Auto Group.
