So far so good one week into the operation of the emergency shelter in Chatham-Kent and things are going smoothly.
Employment and Social Services opened the facility to help community members in need.
Last week 43 people registered at the shelter and some have moved on to motels because of unique family needs.
The people who attend are given safe shelter, meals, clothing and other personal needs.
Polly Smith, the Director of Employment and Social Services said ” I couldn’t be more proud of the shelter team staff we have faced some challenges but the quality services that we and our partners are providing is inspiring.”
She added the goals of this shelter are to keep people safe from COVID-19 and connect more people to housing.
