$250K C-K Small Business COVID-19 Recovery Grant In The Works

A $250,000 COVID-19 Small Business Recovery Grant could be on the way to help local business owners.
The program comes as a recommendation from the Chatham-Kent Economic Recovery Task Force.
The Economic Recovery Task Force outlined details in their report, suggesting funds be redirected from the Together CK: CK Plan 2035 Community Projects budget and the Together CK: Events budget.
The task force report is asking for the program to be delivered in a “very short time frame” for small business to be able to adapt to the COVID-19 business environment. The Task Force is also seeking long-term sustainable changes to keep tax increases at a minimum in the future.
Current recommendations for criteria to take part in the program include:
 Small privately held businesses, stores or restaurants
 Not publically traded or corporately owned chain stores / franchises
 Principal owner(s) are residents of Chatham-Kent
 Annual sales up to $5M
 “Needs” based assessment of losses
 Intent to re-open the business or the business is already open
 Limit of $1,000 per applicant
