Chatham-Kent’s General Manager of Community Development will be leaving his position effective August 1.
John Norton has accepted the position of Chief Administrative Officer for the Township of Georgian Bluffs.
Chatham-Kent CAO Don Shropshire made the announcement this morning, praising Norton for his service.
“Since joining the municipality in 2011, John has served the community very well, first as our Chief Legal Officer and more recently as the GM of community development where he has played a key role in developing our growth strategy and in supporting the Community Development Advisory Committee chaired by Councillor Aaron Hall,” says Shropshire. “We wish him the very best in his new role.”
Norton said he was proud of the work accomplished by his team, most recently in the CK Growth Strategy and business economic recovery during the COVID-19 crisis and helped bring together the Economic Recovery Task Force.
“It is with mixed emotions that I step away from my current position to take up a new challenge and opportunity,” says Norton. “I have loved this job. I love this community and I hope it will be said that I contributed something. I am incredibly grateful for the team members who have supported me and helped me find success.”
Shropshire will discuss future staffing plans with council.
