Despite not discussing the issue during their Monday morning chat Ottawa announced Tuesday they have extended the closure of the border for non essential travelĀ between the U.S. and Canada for another month.
The current agreement was set to expire in July 21st, and it is now extended to August 21st.
The fact the U.S. is reporting 50-60 thousand new cases of COVID-19 a day was a major factor.
A letter from nearly 30 border community members of congress to the feds last week asking to open the border was met with a less than cordial response by Canadians online.
At 3.3 million cases, nearly one in 100 Americans have tested positive.
