Flood Watch In Place For Wallaceburg And Area

The St. Clair Regional Conservation Authority is concerned about rising water levels in Wallaceburg.

A flood watch has been issued for several areas with winds expected to pick up today.

The flood watch went into effect Saturday night with wind gusts expected to reach 60 km/h Sunday afternoon.

According to the release ” Winds from a Southerly or Westerly direction have the ability to create a backwater effect slowing the flow of water out of the Sydenham River and elevating water levels in the Wallaceburg area. ”

Possible thunderstorms this afternoon could mean heavy rain over a short period of time could lead to flash floods.

This flood watch will be in  place though Monday.
