More than 440 pounds of drugs have been seized by border agents at the Ambassador Bridge.

US Customs and Border officials say a commercial truck heading for Windsor was stopped back on August 27th and pulled in for secondary inspection.

Officers then discovered bags of Khat hidden in cardboard moving boxes.

Khat is a flowering plant that contains a stimulant, and is considered a controlled substance in Canada and the US.

“Whether entering or exiting the United States, CBP personnel work tirelessly to ensure the integrity of our shared border with Canada,” said Port Director Devin Chamberlain. “I’m proud of the continued successes our officers have in keeping illicit drugs from crossing our borders.”
