The Lord Selkirk Bridge in Wallaceburg will once again be closed today and tomorrow to fix some steel decking that is causing a bit of a bounce over the Sydenham River.
Chatham-Kent’s Director of Engineering Chris Thibert says he understands the frustrations of local motorists over the constant closures.
“We really respect and appreciate everyone’s cooperation, we do understand the inconvenience this has posed on everyone,” Thibert says. “While we still have this contractor here on this contract that’s still under warranty, we still want to make sure we’re getting a quality product at the end of the day. We want to address all these things now so it doesn’t end up costing us more money in the future.”
Thibert adds that this SHOULD be the final closure for additional work on the bridge.
“This is the last real thing we’ve been witnessing over the last month now,” Thibert says. “This one closure, we really made sure we captured everything finally with this last one to address it.”
The Lord Selkirk Bridge will be closed 8am to 7pm on Tuesday, and again Wednesday from 7am to 7pm.
