Charges have now been laid in connection to a crash that saw a pickup smash into the side of a Tim Horton’s in Chatham.

Early Saturday afternoon, a pickup hit a light post in the Tim Hortons parking lot on Third Street, then drove across the road and hit a concrete post and vehicle parked at Police Headquarter.

Authorities say the force of the impact sent the truck back across the road where it slammed into the coffee shop wall.

The driver, a 67-year-old man has now been charged with careless driving.

Total damages from the crash are pegged at $300,000.
