Two Impaired Driving Charges Thursday Night

Chatham-Kent Police are reminding drivers of the consequences of impaired driving.
A 57-year-old West Lorne man and a 60-year-old Dresden man each face Impaired Driving charges after two separate events Thursday night.
Police received a call from an off-duty police officer regarding a possible impaired driver on River Line just before 6PM Thursday. A traffic stop was initiated and through investigation, the officer believed the man was driving while under the influence of alcohol. The man was arrested and transported to police headquarters for breath tests.  The West Lorne man has been charged with having a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit. He was released pending a future court date.
An hour later, around 7PM Thursday, police responded to the report of a suspicious man sitting in a parking lot on King Street East in Chatham. Officers located the man who was sitting in the driver’s seat with his vehicle running and in reverse. Officers were able to open the door and put the vehicle in park. Through investigation, police believed the man was in control of his vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. The man was arrested and transported to police headquarters for breath tests. The Dresden man has been charged with having a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit. He was released pending a future court date.
