Construction Begins For Indigenous Child Care Centre at Former Sam’s Hotel Site

Construction has officially begun for the new Ska:na Family Learning Centre on Dufferin Avenue in Wallaceburg.
The ground has now been broken at the former site of the infamous Sam’s Hotel at Dufferin and Arnold.
The Ska:na Family Learning Centre was initially expected to be open by the end of 2020, but has been slowed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Another site is also planned for Eighth Street in Chatham.
Ska:na Family Learning Centres offer Indigenous culturally-based curriculum for children up to age 12.
The former Sam’s Hotel was demolished in early January.
