Ontario’s COVID Cases Continue to Rise

Another big jump for COVID cases province-wide, mainly thanks to the GTA.

Health Minister Christine Elliott announced 1426 new cases today, breaking yesterday’s record for the largest single-day increase in infections.

Peel Region has taken over as the top hot spot in Ontario with 468 infections. Toronto is a close second at 384.

15 more people have died from the virus. 424 people remain in hospital, 88 of whom are in intensive care.

We won’t be getting any new local numbers today – the Chatham-Kent Public Health Unit is closed for Remembrance Day.

As of Tuesday afternoon, there are 23 active cases in the municipality, including one workplace outbreak, one outbreak linked to a Blenheim Church, and an outbreak in a congregate living setting.
