Walpole Island officials are working on a comprehensive COVID-19 and Pandemic Action Plan.

On Sunday, the First Nations community closed all of its band programs and departments for two weeks in response to a confirmed case of COVID-19 within the administrative staff.

Chief and Council are working closely with Community Health Supervisor Kyla Stonefish and the Health Centre, and testing on the entire Walpole Island First Nation Staff is now underway.

Officials say extra precautions are necessary, with a high prevalence of underlying health conditions that make many of the members more vulnerable to COVID-19.
