Classes are continuing as usual at Chatham’s Winston Churchill Public School today after an outbreak of COVID-19 was declared over the weekend.
Public Health issued notices of one confirmed case each on November 11th and November 18th before declaring the outbreak with the third infection confirmed on Saturday.
As previously reported, an outbreak in a school is defined as two (2) or more confirmed cases of COVID-19 within a school community, where transmission has been confirmed to have occurred within the school.
However, officials say they don’t believe there is any additional impact to the school, and no more students or staff have been told to isolate.
Public Health has already reached out to anyone who might be considered a close contact.
The school remains open.
