CKHA Postpones Elective Surgeries Effective Jan 7th

With rising COVID-19 numbers in the area the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance has announced this afternoon they are postponing many of their surgical procedures for the time being.

President and CEO Lori Marshall.

It is unfortunate, but after discussions with our collegues in surgery we have made the decision to cancel elective surgeries effective January 7th. The exclusion there is cancer surgeries or procedures as they will continue to proceed, and we will continue to proceed with our emergency and urgent surgeries”.

They also announced there will be up to 10 patients from the over taxed Windsor hospitals being transferred to CKHA for care but they are medical patients, and not the reason for the decision to postpone the surgeries and procedures.
