Ice Jam Causes Flooding on the St Clair River

Flooding is causing some issues along the St Clair River today, thanks to an ice jam near Russell Island.

Officials with St Clair Township fire department say the jam was caused by strong northerly winds overnight.

The Canadian and US Coast Guards are working to clear the jam to keep the water and ice flowing into Lake St Clair.

A pair of additional ice breakers are expected to join the effort later today.

Residents in the area are asked to use caution and report any hazards to the Township.
