Another COVID-Related Death and 3 New Positive Cases in CK

There’s been another death in Chatham-Kent related to COVID-19. Public Health has identified the latest victim as a man in his 50s who had been hospitalized and died at Erie Shores HealthCare in Leamington.

As for overall numbers, the public health unit is reporting 3 new confirmed cases today along with 15 recoveries. That drops the active caseload to 38.

Two of the new positives are connected to the outbreak at Fairfield Park in Wallaceburg, bringing the total number of staff and residents affected since January 10th to 100.

Two patients have been released from hospital, leaving five Chatham-Kent residents being treated for the virus at the Health Alliance. CKHA CEO Lori Marshall says in all, there are 7 COVID-positive patients receiving care, including one in the ICU.

Around the region, there are just eight new cases being confirmed in Lambton County today along with one more COVID-related death.

Windsor-Essex is reporting 76 new COVID cases in the region, however health unit officials say some of that includes 33 from yesterday because of an issue with the reporting system.

The Ministry of Health says there have been 847 new cases confirmed province-wide along with 10 deaths linked to the virus.
