Jump in CK’s COVID Numbers Over The Weekend

Another rise in Chatham-Kent’s COVID numbers.

One more infection has been added to the outbreak connected with lab services at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance. It’s one of three active outbreaks – no new cases have been linked to the outbreaks in the dialysis unit at the Chatham Hospital or Copper Terrace long term care.

In all, there are 71 active cases in the municipality – 21 new infections discovered over the weekend and 10 recoveries. Two COVID-positive local residents remain in hospital being treated for the virus.

On its first day back in lockdown, Lambton County has added 29 new cases today. With 25 recoveries, that brings the total active caseload in the region to 175. Windsor-Essex health officials are reporting just 8 new case today along one more death linked to the virus. Province-wide, nine more Ontarians have died from COVID-19. The government is also reporting another 1268 new cases.

Meantime, Chatham-Kent’s vaccination efforts are on pause today after the mass clinic at the Bradley Centre ran out of vaccine at the end of the day Friday. Officials are hoping to have things back up and running tomorrow. As it stands, 13,766 doses have been administered in Chatham-Kent so far.

For those looking to get vaccinated, public health reminds everyone to continue calling the local call centre. The province launched its new online portal and call centre today, but public health says it’s sticking with its own system for now.
