A Chatham man is facing slew of charges after a short police chase last night.

Just after 9 o’clock, an officer spotted a car speeding down Grand Avenue West. The officer tried to pull the driver over, but the car turned onto St Clair, blew through a stop sign, and eventually stopped on Selkirk Street.

The driver took off on foot, but was quickly taken into custody. A search turned up two cell phones and drug paraphernalia, both of which the accused was under a court order not to have.

The 33-year-old man has now been charged with dangerous driving, flight from police, driving under suspension, and disobeying his release conditions.

The vehicle was towed from the scene and impounded for the next week.
