The provincial government is stepping up to help protect migrant farm workers against COVID-19.

Chatham-Kent’s Medical Officer Dr. David Colby says all migrant farm workers will now be vaccinated against COVID-19 as they arrive at Toronto International Airport.

That really is a tremendously positive step. You might remember a few weeks ago I was critical of the federal efforts, which although were helpful, I expressed dismay that they did not include vaccinations. But, the provincial government has stepped up and is looking after that”.

Dr. Colby says as far as migrant workers already in the field, they are part of the second half of the Phase 2 vaccination rollout plan, and the logistics of getting vaccines to farms is still in the works.
