The provinces Special Investigations Unit has cleared a Chatham-Kent police officer of any wrongdoing in the death of a man in 2019.
On the evening of August 6th, 2019 officers responded to a call to a Chatham home to assist paramedics transport a 35 year old man to hospital.
Once inside the hospital officers held the man in place while a nurse places soft restraints on the individual.
Several minutes later the man lost vital signs and CPR and other life saving measures failed and he was declared deceased.
The Director of SIU has determined there are no reasonable grounds to believe the officer committed a criminal offence in connection with the mans death.
