An outbreak of COVID-19 at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance is now over.
First declared on May 11th, a total of 12 positive cases were linked to the outbreak, and one man in his 70s died as a result.
Hospital officials say infection prevention and control measures will remain in place across the organization, and visitor restrictions are still in effect for now.
With the outbreak over, the Medicine Unit’s beds have been opened up once again. Occupancy of the medical, surgical, and critical care beds is sitting at 86.4% today, down from 100.9% yesterday.
There’s a little more space in the ICU as well, with 9 of the 10 beds now in use. Yesterday, CKHA was using two overflow beds for its intensive care patients.
Overall, there are seven COVID-positive patients in hospital, one of whom is in the ICU.
Meantime, Chatham-Kent’s number of active COVID cases has risen slightly, back to 17 with two new positive tests confirmed today.
