Charges have been laid after a disturbance in Chatham turned violent.
Police were called to an apartment on Grand Avenue West just before 8:30 last night, where officers found a man suffering from a head injury.
Authorities say the victim had been choked and hit over the head with a bottle. He was taken to hospital for treatment.
A 22-year-old man has now been charged with assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm, and breach of undertaking for consuming alcohol.
He was released from custody with conditions and a date in court next month.
