Naming Rights Up for Grabs

By David Gough

Chatham-Kent Council has given the go-ahead to selling off naming rights and sponsorship of seven municipal properties based in Chatham.

The properties include Kingston Park, Chatham’s skateboard park, Capitol Theatre, Chatham Memorial Arena, Thames Campus Arena, and the Chatham Public Library.

“Timing to go to market for this thing is very good as your community is embracing a regeneration, and a rebirth and a growth, as people are moving back there and down there,” said Dan Cimoroni from The Naming Rights Company, a strategic marketing, talent representation, and sponsorship sales group, which did an analysis of the assets for the municipality for sponsorship and naming rights.

The company will now work with the municipality to sell the sponsorship and naming rights for the seven properties.

The selling of naming rights and sponsorship is expected to provide a revenue stream for Chatham-Kent starting in the 2022 budget.
