Fynn & Friends Den Opens at RMH in London

A local family is leaving its mark on the Ronald McDonald House in London.

The facility recently opened the “Fynn and Friends Den” as an inclusive family space.

Spokesperson Brianna Evans says the room was dedicated to the memory of Fynnigan Gawley, whose family stayed at the Ronald McDonald House when he and his brother Keiran were born.

“They loved the idea of the space,” Evans says. “It had resemblances to Fynnigan’s personality. The fun tree house, the outdoor scene is how they decorated the nursery actually with foxes and things like that.”

The Gawley family stayed at RMH London in 2017, and after experiencing the sudden loss of their son, over $65,000 in donations came pouring in from the Wallaceburg community in Fynn’s honour.

“It was a bittersweet when we ended up getting a generous outpouring of support form the Dresden and Chatham-Kent community when Fynnigan Gawley passed away unexpectedly,” Evans says.

With the design help of Marcy Mussari, winner of Canada’s Next Designer in 2016, Fynn and Friends Den encompasses a movie-theatre sized screen, cozy sitting area, a tree house and reading nook for kids, and a fitness center for adults.
